Hometown: Woodbury, Connecticut
Major: Geology (self-designed)
Eco League School I Attend: Green Mountain College
Where I Did My Eco League Experience: Prescott College
Most Dramatic Difference Between the Two Environments: Prescott is located in a city atmosphere, while Green Mountain is located in the country village of Poultney.
Courses I Took: Foundations of Chemistry, Algebra, Intro to Rock Climbing, Environmental Perspectives, and White-Water Rafting
Fun Things to Do in the Area: World-class climbing, good night scene, many festivities within the city square, sightseeing, Grand Canyon, lots of hikes, mountain biking, and other outdoor recreation.
My Best Excursion/Adventure There: Climbing the 300-foot Streeker Spire in Sedona, Arizona.
Best Time to Go: The weather is always nice. I would say fall, since you get the monsoons. It's awesome.
What to Read Up on Before You Go: The natural and cultural history, to get a sense of your surroundings.
What is Unique About the People There: A lot older people (average age of freshmen is about 23-25). Very community related, friendly.
Faculty Member I Most Enjoyed Working With: Joel Barnes, because he has the best sense of humor and is always looking to educate and have fun at the same time. He is very knowledgeable about the area and passionate about his particular studies of wild and scenic rivers.
Reasons to Participate in an Eco League Experience: It's a great chance to get around the country and meet new people from different backgrounds, spread environmental ideas, and create a partnership between communities far from each other.
