The Eco League was officially founded in 2003. Many of the schools were original members of the North American Alliance for Green Education (NAAGE) and recognized the benefits of forming a consortium of liberal arts colleges that specialize in education aimed at building a sustainable society. A grant from the Educational Foundation of America funded an initiating conference and subsequent faculty visits to build collaborative projects.
Today, formal agreements among Eco League colleges allow for cooperative exchanges of faculty and students, as well as collaborative program research and experiential opportunities. Colleges that wish to investigate joining The Eco League can contact:
